4 simple steps to
get your medicine

Now that you have been prescribed your medicine, let’s review how you’ll receive it.

Your prescriber will send<br />
your prescription to a<br />
specialty pharmacy

A specialty pharmacy is different from your local retail pharmacy.

      • A specialty pharmacy coordinates the delivery of
        medicine to your home
      • Your insurance may determine which specialty pharmacy
        can fill your prescription
      • You can contact your prescriber’s office to find out which
        specialty pharmacy is filling your prescription
The specialty pharmacy will confirm insurance coverage<br />
and out-of-pocket cost
      • Your insurance company may require your doctor to provide
        medical documents for your medication coverage. This is
        called Prior Authorization (PA), which could take a few days
        to weeks
      • The specialty pharmacy will work with your doctor and your insurance company to complete the PA

The specialty pharmacy will CALL YOU to schedule the shipment of your medicine
      • Once your insurance company authorizes the approval, the specialty pharmacy will call you to coordinate shipment of your medicine to your home

      • Be sure to watch for the call from the specialty pharmacy to confirm your shipping address; it may come from a number you do not recognize

      • Return any calls from your specialty pharmacy so they can schedule shipment of your medicine
